LENS stands for Learning Educational Needs Summary.
This is how students who would have a substantial disadvantage in their Education seek necessary accommodations and supports from the College. It is a contract with the College guaranteeing various supports and necessary accommodations, such as extra time in exams or receiving lecture slides prior to the lectures.
The College's failure to act on LENS Report fulfilment is part of a wider pattern of disregarding the needs of students. This is only one area where the Students Union is ensuring that all Students are treated fairly.
Due to an outdated system of supports which relies on individual lecturers as well as an apathy towards the struggles of disabled students, many LENS Report guarantees are not being met. This results in a worse quality of education received by these students and causes unfair struggles for these students to deal with. We are all in the same college and the idea that our quality of education or ability to access it should be different is ridiculous.
